back then.

Most people who know her well will agree that Miss Faith Simon has been an educator for as long as she has been alive; efficiency and excellence -- her deepest held virtues -- remain at the forefront of her personal ideology. Early on, her attention to detail and clarity of voice enabled her to excel in her joint biology and psychology program at The University of Texas. Alongside her coursework, Faith served in a variety of mentorship roles for the Texas Interdisciplinary Plan Scholars; where she managed the socio-intellectual growth and development for a group of five first-year students in the College of Natural Sciences. In addition to her mentorship work, she served as a peer academic advisor to first-year students visiting the TIP offices. The summer following her sophomore year, she designed and carried out a 12-week research project on somatic hypermutation (the immune response stimulated by natural encounters with pathogens) at the National Institutes of Health in Baltimore, Maryland before studying abroad in Cape Town at the height of the water crisis and land-back social uprisings. During her medical internship in South Africa the summer before senior year,  Faith realized her deep-seated passion for helping to educate others using her knowledge of both biology and psychology.

Through her years as a classroom instructor, Faith has also served in a variety of supplemental roles including being peer-elected to the District Advisory Committee and becoming a part of the Poly Engagement Corner -- a small transitional team managing campus staff needs during the switch to virtual learning platforms during the 2019-2020 school year shutdowns. She was also appointed the Newcomer Program Coordinator for the 2021-2022 school year, where she has been gaining additional leadership experience.
